1. Volusia School District approved a mask mandate for students starting after Labor Day Weekend on September 7th. A doctor's note will be needed for exemption and the mandate will be effective until October 15th. (Spectrum News 13)

2. AdventHealth's Central Florida Division has started the transition from "red status" from "black status" as hospitalizations begin to fall from the latest surge of Coronavirus cases, although they are still high. Officials are still reminding residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine. (Fox 35 Orlando)
3. Orange County Sheriff's Office arrested a man who allegedly attacked a hotel employee with a machete at Econo Lodge off International Drive. Police say the man was seeking information about another guest and became angry when the worker would not give it to him. The man is facing attempted murder charges. (WESH)
4. The Orlando VA Health Care System is seeing an increase in COVID-19 deaths as the delta variant cases spike. Officials say this is the worst they have seen in the pandemic. The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs said Orlando leads the nation when it comes to facilities with positive cases. (Click Orlando)
5. Enzian Theater in Maitland has revealed its film choices for 13 Films of Halloween 2021. The list of films caters to a wide variety of audiences looking to get spooked this fall. It kicks off on October 2nd with The Toxic Avenger and runs through Halloween weekend.
