2 Arrested In Killing Of 78-Year-Old FL Man Picking Up Meds

ORLANDO, FL — Two people are behind bars in connection with the killing of a 78-year-old grandfather outside an Orlando CVS pharmacy.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Javonne Marece White, 19, and Jasmine Yvonne Munro, 25, have been charged with first-degree murder and carjacking with a firearm.

It wasn't immediately clear what circumstances led to the pair's arrest.

Deputies said he was returning to his car when he was confronted by White and Munro who shot him and took the keys to his car.

As he lied on the ground, deputies said the pair backed his car over him and then ran him over again while fleeing the scene in his Mercedes.

"This murder has shaken our community, shaken the family obviously and all of his here at the Orange County Sheriff's Office," Orange County Sheriff John Mina said during a news conference.

Cummings retired to central Florida in 2008 with his late wife after spending more than 40 years as a security guard for the New York City Health and Hospitals Police.

He leaves behind four children and 10 grandchildren.
