7-Year-Old Girl Fatally Run Over By Grandmother In Florida: Troopers

LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA — A 7-year-old girl has died after her grandmother struck her over the weekend with her van in Lake County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The collision happened along the 900-block of CR-48 in Groveland on Sunday around 4:30 p.m. Authorities said the grandmother was at the location dropping off her family.

Troopers said after everyone exited the grandmother's van in the driveway, she drove forward and struck her granddaughter. Authorities said she wasn't aware she was in front of her.

The woman's granddaughter was transported to Leesburg Regional Hospital where she later died, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
