Here are the top stories in Orlando today:
1. Job applicants at Orange County government will no longer be asked if they have previous criminal convictions starting next month. Officials hope to improve work access for those with a criminal record and bring opportunities for residents in underrepresented communities.(WFTV)
2. Bubbalou’s Bodacious Bar-B-Que has permanently closed in Winter Park. The restaurant was in operation since 1986 and blames the COVID-19 pandemic for hurting the business. The employees have been relocated to its Apopka location. (Bungalower)
3. A 20-year-old woman and her baby were found dead inside a car at an Orlando-area parking lot this past week. The bodies of Massania Malcom and 1-year-old Jordania were found after being dead for a number of days, according to Orange County Sheriff John Mina. Officials say the cause of death for the baby appears to be extreme heat, while Malcom was fatally shot. (NY Daily News)
4. SeaWorld Orlando kicked off its first-ever Howl-O-Scream event this past weekend. The themed event features 4 original haunted houses, 4 scare zones, as well as roaming haunts and two live shows. (Click Orlando)
5. SpaceX is preparing to launch the first all-civilian crew from Florida's space coast in the next few days. Inspiration4 mission is sending 4 regular people into space. The mission is being led by billionaire Jared Isaacman. The crew is raising money and awareness for St. Jude cancer research for children. (WESH)
