1. A former police officer has been arrested on felony charges and is accused of stealing nearly $50,000 from a police union while he was its president. Former Clermont officer Jeremy Kevitt obtained an ATM card and spent money from Clermont Police Officers Union bank accounts without approval. They discovered it after an overdraft charge was made to the account. (Click Orlando)
2. The iconic event venue Ballroom at Church Street in Orlando is set to be torn down ahead of a new mixed-use tower’s construction. The new project will have 200,000 square feet of office space, 230 residential units and 4,000 square feet of retail space. (WFTV)
3. Florida Judge John C. Cooper ruled Wednesday to to override the automatic stay of an appeal from Gov. Ron DeSantis on masks. This allowed Cooper's previous written order stand that blocked the state government and Gov. Ron DeSantis from stopping school districts having mask policies, as well as ending fines against schools. (WFLA)
4. Lasting Impressions 3D is now open at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The event will run through September 26th. It includes pieces by Debussy and Ravel, as well as French standards by Piaf, Aznavour and Mouskouri. (WESH)
5. Volusia County Council member Fred Lowry, who has promoted conspiracy theories about COVID-19 and is seeking re-election, is now hospitalized with the virus. He called Dr. Fauci “Dr. Falsey” and said the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases was a "liar and pervert."(Orlando Sentinel)
