Here are the top stories today in Orlando:
1. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opens to the public on October 1st as part of the expansion of the France pavilion at Epcot. It is part of Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary celebration. That expansion includes a new restaurant called La Creparie de Paris and a new shop. (Spectrum News 13)
2. Dexter's New Standard is in the process of being evicted in Winter Park, according to public records. Orlando Weekly learned the restaurant closed after brunch service on August 22nd. It has gone through several changes in ownership over the years. (Orlando Weekly)
3. Orange County Public Schools is looking to fill about 150 positions next week at its three-day job fair hosted by Food and Nutrition Services from September 8th to September 10th. Those hired will receive a $3,500 sign-on bonus, which includes a $2,500 bonus for those hired on or before Oct. 8 and a $1,000 bonus for those hired on or before Dec. 31, pending union ratification. 4. As Labor Day 2021 approached, Florida was ranked 24th in the nation for unemployment, according to WalletHub. Florida's unemployment rate is 5.1%, down from the nationwide rate of 5.4%. There are currently 545,000 jobs posted online in Florida. The labor force in Florida was up 83,000 over the month, bringing the July 2021 total up to 10,479,000. (Tampa Patch)
5. Orange County Animal Services is asking for community help in fostering orphaned local kittens who need around the clock care. They are looking for people who have experience caring for cats for an easy transition. Applicants must be 18 years or older, reside in Orange County, and to take a hands-on training course.
