1. Brevard County residents who receive their water from Mims Water on the north end of the county will not have community water fluoridation (CWF) restored. Although 64% of residents surveyed wanted it, a supermajority was needed or 66%. Residents who did not respond counted as a "no" vote. (Spectrum News 13)
2. Backers of a proposed constitutional amendment that seeks to ensure money for affordable housing are adding petition signatures as they seek to get on the November 2022 election ballot. The Florida Division of Elections as of Friday received 62,552 valid petition signatures. (Click Orlando)
3. Checkers & Rally's is giving away free large fries to anyone who presents a coupon from FryGiveaway.com today for Labor Day. 4. Polk County commissioners vote Tuesday on whether or not to send a letter to Governor DeSantis that would ask him to make drugs, such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, widely available to residents. Polk Commissioner Bill Braswell says he took ivermectin, the prescription for humans, for nine months until he was vaccinated in March. Health officials, including the FDA, have warned that treatments such as ivermectin are not approved for COVID-19 patients. (WFLA)
5. A chiropractor's chain of clinics in Central Florida called Coastal Integrative Healthcare was discovered to be offering medical exemptions to school district mandates for just $50. The exemptions come as hospitals are filled with COVID-19 patients. Volusia County schools are investigating the offices and Steflik's notes to determine what's next. (Orlando Weekly)
