- Yet another bar is closing in downtown Orlando. The country-western-themed bar Saddle Up will close for good in July. The business did not state what led to the closure, but there have been a number of closures since Orlando's government rolled back closing hours to midnight in the area. (Orlando Weekly)
- Orange County is recruiting teachers for its early learning program. Students can enroll in the program for free if they meet certain criteria. More than 40 positions were offered at a job fair held on Friday for Orange County Head Start. Those interested in a position can call 407-836-6590 or visit the program online. (Click Orlando)
- A man accused of murdering a Daytona Beach couple during Bike Week in 2022 was in court Friday to determine if he was competent for his trial to continue. The accused's defense team is arguing their client is unfit for trial, but prosecutors disagree. A trial date would be set for August of this year if it is determined the man should stand trial. - Wayback Burgers is giving away free 12-ounce vanilla milkshakes today, June 24, to anyone who visits one of the burger chain's locations in the United States, including here in Central Florida. The "Free Shake Day" giveaway celebrates the beginning of summer 2023. No purchase is necessary, and the offer is valid all day. (Fox 35)
- New footage released by the state attorney's office shows the arrest of a motel guest in Titusville, accused by police of killing the owner of the Siesta Motor Inn before shooting himself when confronted. Police said the video is too graphic to release the full footage to the public. The suspect survived the encounter after being hospitalized and now charged with first-degree premeditated murder.
