Here are the top five stories today in Orlando:
1. A man was shot Friday morning during a fight at a McDonald’s in Orlando at Orange Blossom Trail near Gore Street, Orlando police said. According to police two men got into an altercation and one of the men fired a shot, injuring the victim who was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. (Click Orlando)
2. Two Malayan tigers at ZooTampa have tested positive for COVID-19. The tigers were vaccinated and the zoo is unsure how they were infected. The tigers will remain away from public viewing and in their night quarters until further notice. (Tampa Patch)
3. Mecum Kissimmee runs through Sunday, January 16th at Osceola Heritage Park with 3,500 cars up for auction. Organizers said they will follow local safety protocols when it comes to COVID-19. Masks are suggested, especially for those not vaccinated. (WESH)
4. Front Porch Theater, made up of local arts enthusiasts, is working to get a lease for the former AMC movie theater on Front Street in Celebration and renovate it. The group wants to show weekend movies in the theater, but also host corporate events and meetings, concerts and shows, and private events including art gatherings. (Osceola News-Gazette)
5. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed executive orders on Thursday suspending two Sumter County commissioners who were arrested last month accused of lying under oath. The commissioners are accused of lying while making statements under oath to the state attorney as part of a criminal investigation related to possible Sunshine Law violations. (WFTV)
