1. Grow Orlando, an educational farming nonprofit, has started an online farmers market to sell produce grown at micro-farms in its network. The founder, Frank Bailey, plans to build a network of micro-farms at faith-based locations. Pre-orders are accepted online for pick-up. (Click Orlando)
2. Dr. Meadow Good is an Orlando resident who is adamant about protecting her patients against COVID-19 and actively promotes masks and vaccines on social media. She says she received an envelope to her address with a photo of a swastika in it after a post she made about masks went viral. Good reported the mail to the Maitland police and FBI tip line and says she will not be deterred. (WFTV)
3. Winn-Dixie's Parent Company, Southeastern Grocers Inc., is sponsoring four major Florida Pride festivals including Come Out with Pride happening in Orlando on October 9th. The company says, "We wholeheartedly embrace our diverse associates, customers and communities and commit to cultivating an inclusive environment within our company and in the neighborhoods we serve." 4. Winter Park's Hannibal Square will soon enjoy a piano restaurant. Café-Boutique Piano will replace Dexter's at 58 West New England Avenue. It will seat 36 people and plans to open in the next year. (Orlando Weekly)
5. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer says it is vital for residents to continue to conserve water to keep liquid oxygen that is normally used to purify water available for sick COVID-19 patients instead. The city recently experienced a spike in water usage after record lows from conservation. (WMFE)
