Here are the top five stories today in Orlando:
1. Maxwell Alejandro Frost, 25, who is running for U.S. House District 10 in Orlando, could become the first Gen Z member of Congress. Frost is the national organizing director of March For Our Lives. The seat is currently held by Congresswoman Val Demings. (Click Orlando)
2. Orlando City Council members are preparing to vote on a plan that would convert rooms at the Ambassador Hotel into 150 affordable low-income apartments. The change would help address the current affordable housing crisis. A developer has plans to renovate the rooms and rent them out for $750 a month with utilities included. (WFTV)
3. Tacos & Tequila is returning for its fifth year on Saturday, July 30. Participating restaurants this year include Orlando Meats, Jimmy Hula’s, F&D Cantina, Guacamole Mexican Grill and Cocina Maya and more. (Orlando Weekly)
4. Orlando International Airport's long-anticipated Terminal C opens for international carriers Aer Lingus, Azul, British Airways, Caribbean Airlines, Emirates, Gol, Icelandair, Lufthansa and Norse on Monday, September 19. JetBlue and Breeze will open a week later. The new terminal will come in at a $3 billion price tag. (Subscription: Orlando Sentinel)
5. A Lake County Cheer coach, Vigiland D'Haiti, was arrested earlier this year for allegedly molesting students at his gym and is now facing federal charges. Federal investigators claim they found over a dozen pornographic pictures and videos of his victims on his cellphone. (WESH)
