1. Rollins College and the Rollins Museum of Art are unveiling a new sculpture this week, commissioned by alumni Barbara and Ted Alfond, for the museum's Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art. The sculpture is part of Shonibare's Libraries series, celebrating the diversity of global populations. (Bungalower)
2. Hundreds rallied on Saturday afternoon in at Orlando's City Hall against Florida's proposed "Don't Say Gay Bill." "Hate does not belong here in the City Beautiful," said Brandon Wolf from Equality Florida. The group was joined by State Rep. Anna Eskamani and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. (Fox 35 Orlando)
3. Parramore Main Street and Art of Collab used part of a $75,000 grant from Wells Fargo's Hope USA Initiative to present "An Ode to Parramore: Three Walls. Three Artists. One Community" on Saturday. The murals revealed Saturday were painted by artists Jordan Jones, Tasanee Durrett and AJ Barbel, according to a news release. (Click Orlando)
4. Osceola County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help with information into a death investigation that began last Wednesday. The agency says that at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday deputies responded to a report of a shooting near Indian Pointe Circle, off Poinciana Boulevard just south of Oren Brown Road. Upon arrival they discovered the body of Jommil Jave Baez-Quinones, 18. (Osceola News-Gazette)
5. A judge ruled Thursday that Markeith Loyd is competent to proceed with sentencing for the 2017 murder of Orlando police officer Lt. Debra Clayton. Loyd was examined by two doctors to see if he would understand the sentencing phase. Loyd’s lawyer is pushing for life without parole instead of the recommended death penalty. (WESH)
