1. The Florida Theatrical Association in downtown Orlando has announced that it will present the Tony Award-winning musical, “Assassins,” at the Cheyenne Saloon on Church Street from Friday, April 22 through Sunday, May 1. The musical explores the lives of people who either assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States. (Bungalower)
2. Hundreds of volunteers at City of Destiny Church in Apopka joined on Saturday to make meals that will be sent to Ukraine to help those seeking refuge from war. The church is partnered with the nonprofit No Child Hungry to fill 1 million bags of food that will be delivered to Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees in Poland. (Click Orlando)
3. A Central Florida family is facing eviction for the second time after they said OUR Florida approved rental assistance then failed to follow through with payment. OUR Florida is a federally-funded program under the Florida Department of Children and Families designed to help pay rent and utilities. The family says they probably called around 300 times with none of their landlords ever receiving a check. (WESH)
4. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating how and when a man drove into a pond in Osceola County and died. Someone spotted an SUV completely submerged in a pond Thursday near a parking lot in the area of Hoagland Boulevard and Pug Mill Road, according to authorities. Investigators believe the man was driving in an old construction parking lot when he went into the pond. (WFTV)
5. Shamrock the Block is coming to Thornton Park on St. Patrick's Day, Thursday, March 17, from from noon to 10 p.m. Tickets are now available and come with three free drinks, TVs to watch March Madness, live music, and games to enjoy. Food vendors will also be present at the event. (Orlando Weekly)
