- An Ohio man and Spirit Airlines customer was arrested for putting an officer with the Orlando Police Department in a chokehold during an incident at the Orlando International Airport (MCO) on Tuesday, according to police. Police said the man was upset with the staff at the ticketing desk and became aggressive. The suspect is facing one count of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer, and disorderly conduct. (Fox 35)
- Con of Thrones 2023, a “Game of Thrones” themed convention, has canceled its gathering due to Florida's "anti-humanitarian legislation," according to organizers. Those who purchased tickets will receive an email with the option to transfer tickets or get a refund. The convention was held in the Orlando area since 2017. (Click Orlando)
- A Florida man is accused of shooting into a car in DeLand on Wednesday and was taken into custody, according to police. Authorities said the suspect in the incident is 26-year-old Oscar Torres. Anyone with information is asked to contact the DeLand Police Department or the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. (WESH)
- Orange County residents in the Gotha community are fighting a proposed Hindu temple that along Hempel Avenue. Residents argue the building would make the area more flood-prone and not fit the character of the neighborhood. The temple has not gained approval yet. (WFTV)
- Orange County is inviting residents to participate in townhalls for its upcoming Vision 2050. The townhall meetings will run through July 20. The meetings will focus on housing, transportation, and the individual needs of neighborhoods in the area. (Orange County Government, Florida)
