1. The Hope Partnership has received $500,000 in funding from the Florida Legislature. The funding will help in the group's mission of providing housing for the homeless and those who need aid in the community. The funds will primarily be used for a future motel conversion project. More funding is expected from Osceola County and the federal government soon. (Osceola News-Gazette)

2. Fredie Value, 47, is charged with attempted murder in Volusia County after swinging a hatchet at his landlord and shooting him in the face, according to deputies. Deputies said Vale drove away from the scene at a high speed, but was found nearly three hours later at a Deltona Walmart. (WFLA)

3. A 39-year-old Orlando woman was killed Saturday night when she attempted to walk across East Colonial Drive in Orange County and was struck by two vehicles, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. (Click Orlando)

4. Volusia County is encouraging residents and visitors to help with beach cleanup after the 4th of July weekend. Cleanups will be on July 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Tom Renick Park, Sun Splash Park and Mary McLeod Bethune Beach Park. Anyone wanting to volunteer at any of the locations is asked to register by calling (386) 736-5927. (WFTV)

5. The 3rd annual Orlando International Film Festival (OIFF Lions Club) is set to hit Orange County Convention Center next week. The festival will feature more than 300 films from over 40 countries. It will kick off July 9 with Youth Day and run through July 15. (Subscription: Orlando Sentinel)
