Free Physicals For Pinellas Student Athletes

Morton Plant Mease Hospital will offer free health screenings for students on May 4.

Is your student an athlete? Make sure they're healthy for summer and fall sports by getting a free physical next month. The physicals are being offered by Morton Plant Mease Hospital's sports medicine program.

The exams, provided by the hospital's physicians, certified athletic trainers, and physical therapists include checks of height, weight, blood pressure, vision, lungs, and musculoskeletal system, according to a press release issued by the hospital.

The sports physicals will be offered on Saturday May 4 from 8a.m.-noon at Palm Harbor University High School, 1900 Omaha Street in Palm Harbor.

Physicals will be offered on a first come first serve basis.

All student athletes are required by the Florida High School Athletic Association to complete a physical evaluation before participating in high school sporting activities.

The annual sports physicals are part of the hospital's athletic training outreach program, which is a partnership between Morton Plant Mease Health Care and the Pinellas County School System. Morton Plant Mease’s sports medicine program also partners with Pinellas County Schools to offer concussion screenings for student athletes.

Students under 18 must be accompanied to the physicals by a parent, guardian, or have registration forms pre-signed. Those who wear glasses or contact lenses are asked to wear them to the physical.
