Mixed Reviews: Readers Sound Off About Whole Foods

A new 38,000 square foot Whole Foods market is planned for Countryside Mall.

A plan to build a new Whole Foods Market at Countryside Mall became closer to reality according to plans filed recently by the company's builders.

The new 38,000 square foot store would take up half of the current Sears Department store at the mall. Whole Foods customers would access the store from the west entrance of Sears, according to the plans. Sears would keep the south entrance near BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse and the service and merchandise pick-up entrances on the north part of the building.

City of Clearwater planners must now review the plans and provide feedback. The market is expected to be complete in 2014.

Nancy Long-Stiner: "UNhappy with location. The holidays will be very hard to food shop with all the crazy shoppers and packed parking lot. Will avoid at that time. Might go there, but was hoping for a more convenient location. Prices will likely have to be higher because it's in a mall. I might try the Earth Origins that Marie Casano suggested."
