A 55-year-old Palm Harbor bicyclist has died after being struck by an SUV Thursday at the intersection of Alternate 19 and Ohio Avenue.

PALM HARBOR, FL — A 55-year-old Palm Harbor bicyclist has died after being struck by an SUV Thursday at the intersection of Alternate 19 and Ohio Avenue.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 10:50 a.m. the bicyclist was heading south on Alternate 19 (Palm Harbor Boulevard) in the bike lane parallel with the northbound lane, approaching Ohio Avenue.
Troopers said a 41-year-old Palm Harbor man was heading west on Ohio Avenue in an SUV, stopped at the intersection of Alternate 19 and made a right turn onto Alternate 19.

The bicyclist continued across the intersection and entered the path of the SUV. He was taken to the hospital where he died.
