Palm Harbor Dentist's Billboard Supports Fluoride in Water Supply

Dr. Oscar Menendez isn't happy that Pinellas County Commissioners voted to stop adding fluoride to residents' drinking water, so he's targeting two of them who are up for re-election with a U.S. 19 billboard supporting their opponents.

A Palm Harbor dentist isn't happy that Pinellas County Commissioners decided last year to stop adding fluoride to the water supply, and he's taking it out on them with a new U.S. 19 billboard.

Dr. Oscar Menendez says it's a mistake to take fluoride out of Pinellas County residents' drinking water, as commissioners ruled with last year's controversial 4-3 vote. So his Palm Harbor billboard supports the opponents of two commissioners, Neil Brickfield and Nancy Bostock, who voted to remove it, ABC Action News reports.

"Want Flouride? Good Leadership? ELECT Janet Long & Charlie Justice for County Commissioner," the billboard reads.

Menendez told the news station he wants to make a difference and believes in the health benefits of added fluoride.

"It helps everybody," he told ABC. "It helps the elderly people, it helps the decay, root carries as we get older.  It helps the young people."
