Palm Harbor Library to Expand Parking Lot

The new parking area will be located in the southeast corner of the Palm Harbor Library, where a green space is currently located.

Palm Harbor Library patrons will soon have more choices when it comes to parking. 22 additional parking spaces will be added at the southeastern corner of the library near the current location of the circular book return drive-thru. The library received a donation to fund the project.

"The library's foundation is going to be paying for this, so it's a win-win for the community," said Palm Harbor Library Director Gene Coppola.

Coppola said he expects the project to be completed sometime in April or May. Trees have already been marked with ribbons where the new parking area will be located.

"The survey company has come already. They've outlined the trees they're going to have to remove," he said.

Coppola is waiting to hear from the design team before responding to Palm Harbor Patch's inquiry about details about how many trees will be removed and the timeline for construction of the new parking lot.

Coppola says library staff will park in the new parking lot, which will free up space in the main parking lot for library patrons.

Additional lighting will be added to the new parking lot as well.
