PHUH Grad McNary a Rising Volleyball Star at Creighton

Palm Harbor University High grad Leah McNary is becoming "a force at the net" for the Creighton University women's volleyball team, the Omaha World-Herald reports.

McNary, who starred for the Hurricanes volleyball team, is a sophomore outside hitter for the Blue Jays. The team leader with more than three kills per game, she's and has helped Creighton jump out to a 13-3 record and 4-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference, the World-Herald reports.

The 5-foot-10 McNary talked to the newspaper about her new nickname, "Air McNary," and how she's improved her jump by 4 inches since last spring. McNary said she was nicknamed "Legs" while growing up in Tarpon Springs, where she concentrated on basketball and piano before trying competitive volleyball in high school.

McNary told the World-Herald she's enjoying her second year with her college teammates.

“It's really fun playing on this team. I think this is the most fun I've had ever,” she said. “We just smile about everything.”
