  1. This year's Bay-Pride Fest in Panama City scheduled for today, Jun. 10, is facing controversy as drag queens are prohibited from performing in the parade due to a recently signed bill by Gov. Ron Desantis. The bill bans sexually explicit public performances in front of children, which has led to the exclusion of drag queens from the event. Drag queens express disappointment and concern over the impact this decision may have on their progress in gaining acceptance and understanding in society. Bay-Pride organizers have chosen not to comment on the matter. (WMBB - mypanhandle.com)
  2. In case you missed it - The ongoing construction downtown is causing difficulties for business owners who are experiencing a decline in sales and foot traffic. The closure of Harrison Avenue and limited parking options have impacted businesses, leading to a decrease in customers and revenue. Despite the challenges, some businesses have found alternative solutions, such as hosting events and utilizing back entrances, to keep their operations afloat during this period of construction. (WJHG)
  3. The Bay County Sheriff's Office has welcomed an 8-week-old chocolate lab named Buckshot as their newest addition. Buckshot will undergo training to become a disciplined and valuable asset to the office, with a focus on drug detection and human tracking. The K-9 team, including Buckshot, will train several times a week to develop their skills and ensure a variety of scenarios for practice. Once certified, Buckshot is expected to be a great fit for the agency's needs. (WMBB - mypanhandle.com)
