Panama City metro area ranks second nationally for population growth (wjhg.com) — Panama City and Panama City Beach just posted the nation’s second-fastest population growth, with the metro area jumping 3.8% from 2023 to 2024. Local realtors and Bay County officials say new arrivals are drawn by the beaches, military bases, and rebuilding boom after Hurricane Michael, signaling continued change for neighborhoods and the local economy. 
2. Bay County residents express rezoning concerns (wjhg.com) — Bay County commissioners meeting in Panama City have approved a zoning change for 9104 Laird Street, but restricted the property to residential use only after neighbors raised concerns. The developer plans to build ten townhomes, and officials say the condition prevents future commercial development on the site while still supporting new housing. Residents appeared satisfied with the compromise.
3. Bay County sheriff debuts first episode of 'Busted in the Panhandle' (newsherald.com) — Bay County residents are getting a closer look at local law enforcement with the sheriff’s new “Busted in the Panhandle” web series, introduced from Panama City. The first episode follows deputies through storage unit burglary, retail theft, and traffic stop cases, including scenes in Panama City and Panama City Beach, and has already drawn thousands of views and lively reactions online.
4. Mosley senior basketball player is our Walborsky, Bradley and Fleming Student Athlete of the Week (wjhg.com) — A Mosley High School senior guard in Panama City is being recognized as Student Athlete of the Week after energizing the Dolphins basketball team in his final season. Conner Chandler, who has played at multiple schools, says returning to Panama City and joining Coach Derrio Green’s program gave him the connected environment he wanted, and he’s now eyeing a future in the U.S. Air Force.
