Here are the top three stories in Panama City today:

  1. This year's Great American Home and Garden Expo is officially open to the public at the Bay County Fairgrounds. The event is completely free to attend and focuses on inviting several home and garden professionals to answer any questions attendees may have when it comes to rebuilding, remodeling, or landscaping. You can find more information about the event here. (WMBB - mypanhandle.com)
  2. On Thursday, Mar. 23, the Panama City Beach City Council voted for the city to apply for a grant from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for $3 million in order to help streamline stormwater drainage on the beach. The project is focused on funding the construction of an offshore stormwater outfall near Lullwater Lake. Council member Mary Coburn says the project is likely to happen and the city should try to secure as much outside funding as possible. (The News Herald)
  3. This week, Panama City Beach Council members discussed the first reading of the revised Aviation Ordinance. If the ordinance goes into effect, residents will not be able to operate an aircraft, including drones, over private properties at an elevation of up to 500 feet without permission from the owner. Council members say this ordinance comes after receiving various complaints from residents about their neighbors flying drones over their homes and backyards. (WJHG)
