  1. This past Sunday, the rough waters in Bay County proved to be dangerous as more than 30 people were rescued from various agencies after being swept into the ocean. Thirty-three people were rescued on Sunday by Bay County officials and good samaritans. Many boats, kayaks, and paddleboards capsized in the rough waters Sunday forcing individuals to struggle back to shore and even seek assistance from those around them. No injuries have been reported, and all those who ran into these difficulties were safely rescued and returned to shore. Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and the Fire Department also made several rescues this past Sunday. (WMBB - mypanhandle.com)
  2. Panama City Beach is known as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and a big contributor to that is Keep PCB Beautiful, a local organization that works hard to keep the beach clean. Over the past weekend, the organization had 89 volunteers who collected around 50 pounds of trash. With the influx in events and people heading into the summer, there is normally more trash to clean in these months and the organization always welcomes more people to come and assist at one of the clean-ups. The next one is scheduled for Jul. 9 at 5:00 p.m., and the group will be meeting at beach access five in Panama City Beach. (WJHG)
  3. Although Juneteenth is celebrated on Jun. 19, Minority PC celebrated the holiday this past Saturday at Rutherford High School and brought the community together for a fun yet education-filled afternoon. The local nonprofit's founder, Alesia Rhodes, works to bring the community together for this important holiday. The event welcomed 32 vendors that provided several sweet treats and education on local businesses and non-profits that are in the area. If you want to learn more about Minority PC and the non-profit's mission you can check out its website. (WJHG)

  • Whether you have a college degree, you're working on your degree, or you don't have one at all, Bay District Schools may have some employment opportunities for you starting this August. • To honor and celebrate Juneteenth, all offices in the city of Panama City were closed this past Monday as the city joined the nation in celebrating this day in American history marking the end of slavery in the U.S. Offices will resume their usual hours on Tuesday, June 20 throughout the city.
