Escambia County School Superintendent Dr. Timothy Smith has announced that schools and district offices will be closed on Friday, January 21, 2022, due to possible inclement winter weather arriving in the area.

The National Weather Service in Mobile, Alabama has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of Escambia County, Florida, effective until noon on Friday, January 21, 2022.
The National Weather Service forecasts freezing temperatures and rain between 3:00 am and 9:00 am tomorrow morning, with the possibility of ice adversely affecting area road conditions throughout Friday. In an abundance of caution, all schools, district offices, and afterschool activities, including indoor and outdoor athletics, have been canceled for Friday, January 21, 2022.

“We anticipate normal district operations will resume on Monday, January 24,” stated Superintendent Tim Smith. “Of course, we'll continue to work closely with local emergency operations officials to determine what is safest for our families and staff.”
District officials will continue to monitor weather updates, and members of the community are encouraged to do the same. If necessary, updates will be provided through local media, School Messenger, and the district website.
