Floor Coverings International Thrives Locally
Driven Entrepreneurs Combine Talents To Bring No. 1 Mobile Flooring Brand to Panhandle

(Pensacola, FL)-Isaac Phillips and Patrick Daniel are in it to win it. A palpable sense of verve and drive emanates from each as they talk about their business partnership and what they envision for Floor Coverings International of West Florida Panhandle.
The 39-year-old Phillips had worked in operations management for the last 15 years and previously led a company and team that managed a commercial real estate portfolio, a role that he loved. “Despite that, I was reminded that it was just another job, building someone else’s dream, and not my own, and would never be anything more. I had always wanted to own my own company and that longing had grown stronger over the years.”
Daniel, 34, had served in the United States Navy since 2012, serving at Corry Station in Pensacola. During that time, he and his wife, Emily, launched two real estate investment companies, one focused on renovating and selling dilapidated homes in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties to address the affordable housing shortage in those areas and the other focused on multi-family real estate. “My experience in real estate gave me dozens of first-hand examples of the missing customer service experience in the flooring industry, which led Isaac and I to search for a way to solve that problem,” Daniel said.

FCI is changing the game for those looking to upgrade their homes with new flooring. With their innovative and award-winning customer service tools and unique mobile showroom experience, customers can now view more than 3,000 flooring options in their own home. FCI of West Florida Panhandle also has a storefront at 698 E. Heinberg St., in Pensacola, with a second location expected to open in the Destin/Fort Walton Beach area in July.
Phillips and Daniel met in 2021 through common real estate interests when both were considering service-based franchise opportunities. With both sharing common goals, they decided to form a business partnership, with Phillips relocating from Michigan with his family.

“There were many challenges involved in the process of transitioning from my career to this entrepreneurial path and moving my family across the country to do so,” Phillips said. “But the entrepreneurial drive that led me to commercial real estate, and eventually introduced me to Patrick, has fueled my journey here at FCI as it has in most areas of my life for a long time now.”
Said Daniel: “Isaac and I are both driven people – some may say to a fault – and have set high expectations for ourselves individually, for each other, and for our team, to turn the FCI vision of the best in-home flooring experience in North America into a reality in the Florida Panhandle.”
The Design Associates at Floor Coverings International provide personalized assistance in choosing from their extensive collection of flooring styles and materials. The mobile showroom allows clients to see how different options will look with existing furniture, lighting, and paint colors all within the comfort of their home.
“Our entire business model revolves around the innovation of the shopping experience for the customer and in bringing more than 3,000 samples of flooring to the customer’s home,” Phillips said. “This allows us to provide a personal concierge experience in the comfort and lighting of your home, where you can best visualize the floor you want.”
Floor Coverings International has already revolutionized the market as it consistently ranks as the No.1 Mobile Flooring Franchise in North America by Entrepreneur Magazine. As projected by Hardware Retailing, home improvement sales are expected to reach $625 billion by 2025 worldwide. The flooring industry is undergoing significant changes and innovations as consumers demand more quality, variety, and sustainability in their flooring choices. According to a recent report by Expert Market Research, the United States flooring market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.50 percent between 2023 and 2028, driven by the increasing population, rapid urbanization, and growing investments in renovations and remodeling of infrastructures.
“We have turned floor buying into an in-home shopping experience, rather than a set of errands to run on a weekend,” Daniel said.
