• Proposed Ya Ya Alert Act aims to honor Pine Hills shooting victim by saving lives (cfpublic.org) — State lawmakers are pushing the proposed YaYa Alert Act, inspired by the 2023 Pine Hills shooting that killed 9-year-old T’yonna Major, to require rapid alerts to nearby schools and childcare centers when a violent suspect is still at large. Her family, including relatives in Pine Hills, helped shape the bill, which would trigger community-wide emergency alerts and is now seeking support in both legislative chambers.
   

• Orange County's Community Centers Making Significant Impact (ocfl.net) — Pine Hills residents are served by one of Orange County’s nine community centers, which together help nearly 300,000 people a year with food boxes, job searches, school supplies, and after-school programs. The Pine Hills center and its sister sites also offer computer labs, health fairs, financial literacy workshops, and welcoming spaces that aim to fight poverty and build stronger, more hopeful neighborhoods.
