5 Military Service Discounts for Memorial Day Weekend

Here are discounts for active, reserve and retired members of the military offered through Memorial Day weekend.

Here are discounts for people who are serving or who have served in the U.S. military. They range from Florida Aquarium passes to a chicken wing discount at Hooters.

1.) Play in the park: Florida’s state parks provide discounts on annual passes or free annual passes through the month of May. The offer is for those who currently serve or who have served in the military branches. The discounted Florida State Parks Annual Entrance Pass is available for purchase at any Florida State Park staffed ranger station.

2.) Visit the Aquarium: Any active duty, retired or drilling reservist or National Guardsman can get two free Florida Aquarium admission tickets for themselves and a guest during Memorial Day weekend. Additional family members (up to 4 people) can receive $10 admission. Tickets must be purchased at the Florida Aquarium ticket booth in Clearwater. Visitors must show military ID at time of purchase. Family member discount cannot be combined with any other offer or coupon.

3.) Visit the Zoo: Monday is Memorial Day Military Appreciation at Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa. Military personnel (active-duty and retirees) are entitled to free admissions. The military member will need to show a Department of Defense photo ID at the Zoo’s ticket counter. As many as three direct dependents of military personnel also are entitled to free admission. Dependents may take advantage of the offer without their service member, though an adult must accompany minors.

4.) Take a road trip to Orlando: In honor of Memorial Day, Westgate Resorts is extending a special offer to active duty military, reservists and veterans. The resorts is offering a 31 percent discount off the best available rate. U.S. military personnel must book their trip online between Friday, May 24, 2013, and Monday, May 27, 2013, and travel any time through Dec. 21, 2013. 5.) Wing it: Hooters is celebrating Memorial Day by offering 10 free wings to military members with proof of service. The offer is dine-in only, and patrons must purchase a drink to receive the deal.
