Bands on the Sand Event Rocks Treasure Island

The first day of the weekend-long music festival showcased local musicians and gave the town lots to celebrate.

As Floridians, Memorial Day is usually perceived as a day spent in the sand and under the sun. Honoring heroes from generations past and those to come, the beach is a perfect spot for all things American.

What happens when you add live music to the traditional form of celebration? You get Bands on the Sand, that's what.

Local bands got their groove on right along the shore on Treasure Island. Beach goers and music lovers danced in the sand to the sound of acts like the Hubb Tones and the Sonzabeaches.

The stage is set up in the sand, so cooling off in the Gulf is within walking distance. Aside from music, vendors dishing food, drinks and crafts were also in attendance.

Sunday is the final day for the event and parking on the beach is just $10 for the entire day.
