
A lawsuit over the St. Pete Beach City Commission's closed-door development rules meetings will be heard by the 2nd District Court of Appeal.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that the issue is whether city commissioners were breaking Florida's Sunshine Law when they held private meetings with St. Pete Beach legal counsel in 2011.
In April 2012, the circuit court ruled that the city was not out of line and that its ensuing actions remediated any problems.

The First Amendment Foundation, which joined the lawsuit, has described the city's actions as "egregious." But City Attorney Susan Churuti said that there were more than 90 public discussions about the issues, mitigating any concerns that public business was being conducted in private.
