Dinner Cruise Stranded, Pushed Against Corey Causeway Bridge: USCG

A dinner cruise with 100 passengers was pushed against Corey Causeway Bridge in St. Pete Beach after losing power, U.S. Coast Guard said.

ST. PETE BEACH, FL — A 117-foot dinner cruise yacht lost power and was pushed against the Corey Causeway Bridge because of high winds and strong currents Wednesday night, U.S. Coast Guard Station St. Petersburg wrote in a Facebook post.

The bridge connects South Pasadena with St. Pete Beach.

Coast Guard crews launched around 10:30 p.m. to assist the stranded cruise, which had about 100 passengers on board. When they arrived, crew members assessed the situation and found that "weather conditions weren't working in their favor," the Coast Guard said.

Two crew members boarded the yacht to assess the initial reported injuries, the agency said. The Coast Guard didn't provide details about the injuries.

Once they boarded the boat, they began working with other local agencies to get the passengers back on land, the Coast Guard said.
