Fallen Belleair Officer Remembered During National Police Week

National Police Week gets under way, with a national "virtual" roll call of the fallen officers in every state. The memorial includes a tribute page to a fallen officer in Belleair, Florida.

National Police Week kicks off this week, with a remembrance virtually of fallen officers across the United States, including 762 in Florida.

The virtual national roll call includes a Belleair police officer who died in the line of duty from "gun fire," according to the Officer Down Memorial Page. The website includes a comprehensive, state-by-state list of fallen officers in the line of duty.

Officer Jeffery Warren Tackett of the Belleair Police Dept. died on Sunday, June 13, 1993. "Cause: Gunfire." Tackett was shot and killed by a suspect whom the officer was trying to arrest. The suspect grabbed the 28-year-old handgun and shot him.
