Lawsuit Over Police Firing Advances

A judge has refused to dismiss a former St. Pete Beach officer's lawsuit against the city manager and ex-police chief.

A district court judge has ruled that a lawsuit filed by a former St. Pete Beach police officer can move forward, after city officials tried to block it.

Todd Brien is the former St. Pete Beach police officer who was fired last July after he emailed the city to complain about plans to close the local police agency and use the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
