Lightning To Fund Street Hockey Rink In Pinellas Park

The Lightning Foundation Inc. is funding an outdoor street hockey rink at the Pinellas Park Youth Park Sports Complex.

PINELLAS PARK, FL --There's good news for Pinellas Park street hockey fans.

The Lightning Foundation Inc. is funding an outdoor street hockey rink at the Pinellas Park Youth Park Sports Complex at 3750 66th Ave. N.

This rink will be used for street hockey leagues, clinics and tournaments. In addition, the Lightning Foundation will host a street hockey clinic once a quarter at the rink with Tampa Bay Lightning alumni and street team members. The new rink is expected to be in place by mid-2019.

"We are extremely excited about this new endeavor and appreciate the partnership and generosity of The Lightning Foundation," said Keith Sabiel Jr., leisure services administrator for the city. "This addition will serve our local youth and those in neighboring communities."

The Lightning Foundation will also donate hockey gear for participants including hockey sticks, balls, goal nets, pinnies and protective goalie gear.
