Local Merchants Help Make Donations to Three Veterans Organizations
The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) along with local merchants donate raffle proceeds to three military veterans' charities.
From Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4256: With help from local businesses donating towards a raffle prize, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4256 has donated the proceeds of that raffle to three military veterans’ charities: the VFW National Home for Children; the VFW’s Veterans Village Retirement Home, and the VFW’s Military Assistance Program (MAP).
The Post’s donation, totaling $1,227, are the proceeds of a recent “Christmas on the Beach” Raffle held by the post during the month of December.
The Raffle’s prize, amounting to $1,665 in goods, services and gift certificates, were donated by local merchants and businesses including those from the John’s Pass and Madeira Beach community.

The Post’s donation is divided equally among the three VFW charities, which receive no government funding and operate solely on donated or self-generated funds. These organizations provide the following support to veterans:
The VFW National Home for Children delivers assistance to military and veteran families in such areas as reintegration, post-traumatic stress, unemployment and rehabilitation from battlefield injuries.

The VFW Veterans Village offers affordable, independent living accommodations to VFW members and their spouses, as well as to members of the VFW Auxiliary and their spouses.
The VFW’s Military Assistance Program (MAP) connects local VFWs with military communities around the world. MAP includes an Adopt-a-Unit program, in which local VFW Posts and their Auxiliaries “adopt” military units before, during and after deployments overseas to help deliver a network of resources that the VFW has available to the military.
Post Commander Ron Mills thanked all those who made the donations possible: “I want to thank all the members of our post and our auxiliary members who worked diligently to make the raffle a success, and particular thanks to all the merchants and businesses who participated in providing the prize for this raffle. We’re honored that we can donate over $1200 to these veterans’ charities.”
The donor businesses are currently acknowledged on the Post’s website: TheVFW4256.org.
With nearly 1.7 million members, the VFW is a nonprofit veterans’ service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the Active Duty, National Guard and U.S. Reserve forces. Since 1899, the VFW has bettered the lives of veterans who have worn the uniform of the United States military in conflicts across the globe.
