Matter of Taste: Breakfast on the Beach

Breakfast will be a popular dining out option this weekend, in light of the holiday. Take a look at some of our favorite places to indulge in some good grub.

At The Frog Pond restaurant, there is an entire portion of the menu dedicated to different style of omelettes. The Neptune Omelette is a hefty portion of egg stuffed with spinach, krab and cheddar cheese. A dish like this can be yours for $10.60.

Located on the north end of St. Pete Beach is Steam and Chill, a great venue for food, coffee and good service. The Five Dollar Special was designed to "get you out the door for five bucks." The plate includes two scrambled eggs, topped with shredded cheese as well as a side of fruit and a "breakfast goodie."

Caddy's has a steady flow of lunch and dinner regulars, but some people are unaware that they serve breakfast as well. Coffee Cocktails and a long list of benedicts with a twist make the menu unique. For instance, the Bang Bang Benedict ($10.99) is made traditionally with two english muffins and two poached eggs. The twist is the added sea scallops topped with a zesty hollandaise sauce.

Along with regular breakfast favorites like eggs, bacon and toast, Sweet Sage also offers some sweet options. The Apple Crisp French Toast ($7.98) is a triple layered plate stuffed with hot cinnamon apples and raisins and topped with whipped cream and powdered sugar.
