Motorcycle Driver's Leg Severed in Crash

The 45-year-old driver was traveling in Madeira Beach when he lost control of his bike, hitting a guard rail.

A motorcycle driver's leg was severed when he lost control of the bike and crashed in Madeira Beach, WTSP.com reports.

Donald Sutton, 45, suffered life-threatening injuries Monday in the accident, which occurred just before 3 p.m., according to the Pinellas County Sheriff.

Sutton was driving on Duhme Causeway, when his bike hit a guardrail as he turned on to Bay Pines Interchange. The collision severed the driver's leg.

Sutton was thrown from the motorcycle, with the impact causing injury to his head. He was not wearing a helmet.

He was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center.
