Pass-A-Grille Church Celebrates 100th Birthday

The Pass-A-Grille Beach Community Church has turned 100.

The Pass-A-Grille Beach Community Church has now passed the century mark, celebrating its 100th birthday.

According to TBO, the church is older than the city itself and has made its mark with accepting all denominations and cultures.

"The church joined the United Church of Christ in the 1960s and has retained its openness in denominations, which allows many decisions to be made locally, he said. Today, the congregation is the largest church of its denomination in Pinellas County, drawing members from as far as Temple Terrace.

Known as a theologically progressive church, the congregation is active in service projects that stretch beyond Pass-a-Grille, donating money and volunteer hours to groups such as the St. Petersburg Free Clinic and Pinellas Hope and launching mission trips to places such as Peru and Haiti, Rev. Keith Haemmelmann said."
