Patch Minute: Geckowood, Lizard Live, Tampa Bay Rays
From dressing up like a Hollywood starlet to putting on your game face, we have plenty of day and evening events in Gulfport, St. Pete and the beaches this weekend.
Welcome to this week's Patch Minute! We have plenty of events that'll have you dressing up like gansters, movie starts and baseball players!
Gulfport
Don't miss the red carpet on Saturday! This year's theme for the 4th Annual Gecko Ball is So, celebrate your inner movie star and head to the The Peninsula Inn starting at 6 p.m. Now, tickets are sold out. However, you can still bid on one of eight steel geckos during the live auction at around 9 p.m. Each gecko has been decorated by a local artist and can be bid on right now. They are located at eight downtown businesses with auction sheets. You're encouraged to bid on a gecko now and show up at the auction to see if you win or if you have to up the bid. St. Pete Beach
Spice up your Friday night by channeling your inner Gangster or Flapper for this year's Lizard Live event on Friday from 6:30 to 10:30 at the Sirata Beach Resort on St. Pete Beach. New this year, the event will be indoors and that actually may work out well, considering our weekend forecast.

The annual charity event will benefit the Gulf Coast Ignuana Sanctuary and this year, proceeds will also go to Pet Pal Animal Shelter in St. Pete. Bring cash for the silent auction and don't forget to dress your furry friend and enter your dog in the costume contest. Ticket packages range from $25-$1000. Downtown St Pete
And in downtown St. Pete this weekend, we have a Tampa Bay Rays up against the Oakland Athletics. Friday night, the game begins at 7:10 at the Tropicana Field with a free concert after the game from the band O.A.R. - they're known for songs like . . "that was a crazy game of poker", "night shift" and "love and memories." The concert is right on the field following the game. There's also a game on Saturday at 1:10 p.m. Tickets for Friday start at $17, for Saturday, they start at $9.
