Treasure Island Considering Changes to Alcohol Ban?

Do you think there should be an alcohol ban on Sunset Beach?

Treasure Island officials are considering altering its controversial Sunset Beach alcohol ban, according to a report by the Tampa Bay Times, if plaintiffs drop their pending lawsuit against the city.

According to the Times, the Gulf beach community restricts "the possession and consumption of alcohol on a section of Sunset Beach on weekends, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., from February through September."

"City attorney Maura Kiefer presented a revised ordinance Tuesday to city commissioners, saying the police chief doesn't object to reducing the size of the regulated area. Commissioners approved the ordinance on first reading after Kiefer said the other plaintiffs will be asked to sign a settlement saying they won't pursue further action against the city," the Times reported.

Treasure Island decided to ban alcohol on Sunset Beach in 2011 as the neighborhood began to get a little out of hand with a party atmosphere.
