Video: Amazing Footage Of Boaters Petting Great White Shark In FL

Some friends were about 65 miles off the Gulf Coast of Florida fishing when they were approached by a friendly great white shark.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — The familiar "dun, dun, dun, dun" heard in the background as the great white shark approaches Robert Shaw, Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss's boat in the 1975 Steven Spielberg thriller film, "Jaws," didn't even cross Erika Almond's mind.

Almond, founder of Girls That Fish, and a group of friends were about 65 miles off the Gulf Coast of Pinellas County, Florida, with Capt. Tyler Levesque at the helm when they received a friendly visit from a 14- to 16-foot great white shark.

"Seriously one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had offshore," said Gretchen Cooper in a Facebook post. "We had a 14-16-foot Great White shark circle our boat, bite the motors and the boat, and roll on its back for about two to three hours. No words..."

Jon Gilby even reached down to pet the shark as Peter Lambie, Almond and Cooper captured the moment on camera and video.

"He was friendly -like a curious puppy," Cooper said. "We weren’t scared at all - just not jumping in to play."
