• Punta Gorda Set for Economic Boost with Duffie North Industrial Development, Over 200 New Jobs Expected (hoodline.com) — Punta Gorda is set to gain more than 200 new jobs as the Duffie North industrial project breaks ground near the Punta Gorda Airport Commerce Center, adding over 100,000 square feet of warehouse and flex space. Local leaders say the development will strengthen the tax base, support schools and public safety, and is already paired with $30,000 in charitable donations to community nonprofits.
   

• Punta Gorda sets temporary ban on outdoor fires, open burning (wgcu.org) — If you live in Punta Gorda, all outdoor fires and open burning—including fireworks and casual fire pits—are temporarily banned under a new city burn order. The Florida Forest Service notes multiple nearby counties also under bans as drought conditions worsen, and officials will issue another notice once Punta Gorda’s restriction is lifted.
   

• Charlotte grad prepares for first Army-Navy Game (winknews.com) — A Punta Gorda native and Charlotte High School graduate, defensive lineman Cael Newton, is suiting up for his first Army–Navy Game after earning a spot beyond the scout team at West Point. He talks about how Charlotte–Port Charlotte rivalries shaped him, why he chose Army as his only offer, and what this historic matchup means to him and his family.
