• Free groceries available for Hillsborough residents at 3 food pantry events (tampabeacon.com) — If you need help stretching your grocery budget, free food will be available at Southshore Community Resource Center on Dec. 12 from 4–5:30 p.m. at 201 14th Ave. SE in Ruskin. Hillsborough County and Feeding Tampa Bay are also hosting similar no-income-limit pantry events in Tampa and Plant City, offering fresh produce, meats, and pantry staples to any county resident. 
• 'It's just not possible,' says son of man charged with murder of Gilgo Beach victim (newsday.com) — A 66-year-old Ruskin resident is being held in Hillsborough County while awaiting extradition to New York in connection with a decades-old homicide tied to the broader Gilgo Beach investigation. His adult son, speaking from Florida, insists his father is innocent and describes him as a longtime Army veteran and former Tennessee state trooper, while New York authorities remain largely tight-lipped about the case.
