Drug House In Safety Harbor Busted; 2 Charged

SAFETY HARBOR, FL — Two people have been arrested for operating a drug house in Safety Harbor in which at least one person has died from an overdose.

In July, detectives began an investigation after receiving numerous tips that people were selling drugs from 1110 Withlacoochee St. in Safety Harbor. Detectives learned that one fatal drug overdose and two non-fatal overdoses had taken place at the same home, according to the sheriff's report.

On Wednesday, detectives served a search warrant on the home and discovered 9 grams of fentanyl, 221 grams of marijuana, Narcan containers, several glass pipes with burnt cocaine residue and a Glock 9 mm handgun. They also found 5.9 grams of fentanyl, 32.6 grams of cocaine and 17.8 grams of marijuana in a vehicle, according to the sheriff.

Detectives arrested 58-year-old Christopher Burkes on charges of operating a drug house, four counts of sale or delivery of crack cocaine, four counts of possession of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana, trafficking in fentanyl, armed trafficking in fentanyl and trafficking in cocaine. He's being held at the Pinellas County Jail on $203,150 bond.

Stephanie Ann Shauan, 50, was charged with operating a drug house, possession of methamphetamine, possession of powdered cocaine, armed trafficking in fentanyl and tampering with physical evidence. Shaun is being held on $61,000 bail.
