Busy St. Patrick’s Day Weekend In Safety Harbor

The festivities kick off with 3rd Friday and conclude with a number of shamrock related events on Sunday.

Spring hasn’t officially arrived yet, but the outdoor events and activities associated with the season will begin in earnest this weekend all around the area.

Nowhere will those signs of spring be more apparent than in downtown Safety Harbor, as the city plays host to a number of major events.

The holiday weekend kicks off Friday night with the monthly installment of the 3rd Friday Music Series on Main Street.

This month’s theme is, of course, St. Patrick’s Day, with events and music centered on the Irish holiday. And be sure to check out the th, that same evening.

On Saturday, the Chop Shop is hosting a St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser event. Patrons are asked to shave their heads or utilize another of the salon’s services in exchange for a donation to the children’s cancer charity.

Also on Saturday the annual Safety Harbor Paint Your Hear Out event will take place from 7:30 a.m. until noon, as volunteers will help paint and beautify neighboring houses. For more information on how to participate, contact city volunteer coordinator Donna Mack at 727-725-7655.

On Sunday, a number of area establishments are having St. Paddy's parties.

But the big event on the schedule is the Nolan’s Pub 5K road race, a charity run in and around the downtown area to benefit the Fraternal Order of Police.

Nolan’s owner Craig Davide is expecting a huge turnout for the inaugural event, and afterward he will be hosting a holiday bash befitting a pub, complete with green beer, live music and traditional Irish food.

Whew! We told you there’s a lot going on in the Harbor this weekend!
