Commission Okays Plan for Walgreens at Oakbrook Plaza
The national drug store chain plans to open a 14,000-square-foot branch on the southwest corner of McMullen Booth and Enterprise Roads.
The Safety Harbor City Commission agreed last week to approve a site plan request that would put a Walgreens on the southwest corner of McMullen Booth and Enterprise Roads.
After receiving unanimous approval from the Planning & Zoning board in June, the developer brought the plans before the commission last Monday.
Under the proposal, the national drugstore chain would build a 14,550-square-foot branch in the Oakbrook Plaza on the corner that was formerly home to a Mobil gas station and a Checkers fast food restaurant.
The plan calls for the entrance of the store to face Enterprise Road, with additional access on McMullen Booth as well 49 parking spaces and a 10-foot wide drive through lane.
After hearing a presentation of the proposal from Community Development Director Matt McLachlan as well as a representative for the applicant, the commission quickly and unanimously approved the request by a vote of 5-0.
The existing Walgreens across the street will be replaced by the new one, according to the applicant.
