Elderly Abuse Charges Filed in Safety Harbor Case
An elderly man allegedly was kept in a garage room that lacked plumbing and an adequate supply of food.

A Safety Harbor couple faces charges of elderly abuse, after deputies say they housed an older man in their garage without running water, toilet or adequate food.
Thomas and Mellissa Diez were arrested by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, according to the Tampa Bay Times. The case involves felony charges of abuse or neglect of an aged or disabled person at their Swan Lake residence.
The elderly man lost 15 pounds while in their care for four months. He had stayed in a temporary room in the garage.
