Open Book Event at Whimzey House Today

The free festival dedicated to all things literary will feature poetry readings, performances, a book bus and an open book exchange.

Open Books, a free event dedicated to promoting and honoring all things literary, takes place from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. today at the Whimzey House.

Local artists Kiaralinda and Todd Ramquist are opening their Third Street North home to the community as a means to bring books, poetry and a love of reading into people's lives.

The event kicks off at three, with a dedication of the book box - a 'little library' where people are encouraged to take a book and leave a book - scheduled to take place around 4:30.

Other aspects of the event include a display from the Southern Letterpress of St. Petersburg, the Bluebird Book Bus on site selling books, magazines and tee- shirts, and other assorted literary-centric activities.
