Two family friendly events plus perfect weather combined to make one fun day at Safety Harbor City Park.
Truck-N-Play Day, a combination of two family friendly events, took place on Saturday under crystal clear skies at Safety Harbor City Park.
Organizers and guests couldn't have asked for a better day, which merged two of the community's popular events - Touch-a-Truck and Play Day.
"It's been amazing, just a great turnout," Rigsby Recreation Center director Julie Inman said. "I can't put a number on how many people have come out, be we're very pleased with the response."

Asked whether she felt it was beneficial to combine the two events this year, Inman was unequivocal.
"Absolutely," she said. "Touch-a-Truck always draws a lot of kids and families, and by combining it with Play Day, they get to learn about our excellent park services and all the benefits we offer by being a Playful City USA."

In addition to the games, food and activities, the highlight of the event had to be the fire trucks stationed at Alligator Lake.
Not only were there a number of engines on hand, kids actually got to operate the hoses, which shot towering streams of water into the lake all day long.
Safety Harbor Fire Department Captain Chis Palmieri, a veteran of many Touch-a-Truck events, said combining the two events was a great idea.
"This is the first one I've done in a while, but I like how they've spread it out and moved the vehicles all the way down the street," he said. "It gives everyone more room to move around."
And the addition of the hoses?
"Pretty cool, huh?" he said. "You don't see that at many of these events."
